Asian Pan-Pacific Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (APPSPGHAN)



APPSPGHAN is a non-profit organization for the benefit of anyone in the Asian Pan-Pacific region in the fields of pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition. Its purposes are to promote knowledge in these fields through scientific exchanges, and to stimulate the conduct of research in search of new knowledge and treatment.

APPSPGHAN was formally established in 1994 in Tokyo, Japan during the 4th Asian Pan-Pacific Congress of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. Professor Geoffrey Cleghorn was the first President, followed by Professor Yuichiro Yamashiro. With the establishment of the APPSPGHAN, its constitution and By-laws were formalized. The society has grown up and currently it represents 14 countries in Asia-Pacific region


The organizational structure, composed of the Council committee, the Executive committee and the Standing Committees.


 APPSPGHAN scientific conferences including APPSPGHAN Congresses, Teaching Workshops including endoscopy workshops, virtual Masterclasses, and other webinar conferences are regularly organized to promote knowledge in the region. In addition, the society also promote many academic activities including international collaborative studies, the consensus guidelines and position papers on the management of gastrointestinal, liver, and nutritional problems in the region.

The society has also provided educational grants to the members to promote the international collaborative studies.
