As we mark World Breastfeeding Week 2025, FISPGHAN proudly joins the World Health Organization (WHO) and WABA in reaffirming our shared commitment to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding across all regions.

This year’s theme, “Invest in breastfeeding, invest in the future,” reminds us that promoting breastfeeding is both a moral responsibility and a strategic investment in public health. Breastfeeding plays a crucial role in the early development of the digestive and immune systems, helps reduce the incidence of infections and chronic diseases, and fosters emotional bonds that shape lifelong well-being.

As pediatric gastroenterologists and healthcare advocates, we recognize that mothers and families need more than encouragement—they need skilled guidance, supportive health systems, workplace protections, and community acceptance.
